Doggie Biscuits
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup flour
1 cup skimmed milk powder
1/3 cup melted fat (beef, lamb, bacon)
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup cold water
In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat and all-purpose flours and mild
powder. Drizzle with melted fat. Add egg and water and mix well. Gather dough
into a ball.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/2 inch (1 cm) thickness.
Cut into dog bone shape. Bake on ungreased baking sheets in 350F oven for 40
-50 min or until dark and crispy. Makes about 3 dozen dog biscuits.
BREAD MACHINE Chicken Flavored Cookies
1 cup chicken stock
1 cup Bread or all-purpose flour
2 cup Whole wheat flour
1/4 cup Non-fat dry milk powder
1 1/2 tsp Yeast
Use dough cycle. Roll dough to 1/2" thickness. Cut with cookie cutters or a
pizza cutter. Place on a greased baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and let
rise in warm place about one hour. Bake at 325-degrees for one hour. When all
are baked, turn off oven and leave overnight.
Store in airtight container.
Wheat Free Tuna Biscuits
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup oatmeal
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 can tuna in oil [small] -- undrained
1/3 cup water
Grind oatmeal in processor until a coarse flour, put in a bowl. to processor
add tuna with the oil, and water , process until pureed, add all the rest of
ingredient. Pulse until mixture forms a ball, Pulse to knead for 2-3 minutes.
Turn out to floured board , knead if needed to soft dough. Roll out to a
1/8"-1/4" thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on lightly greased cookie
sheet , at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Cool completely.
Peanut Butter Molasses Treats
Mix together dry ingredients:
3 cups soy flour
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup dry oats
Add mixed wet ingredients and cut in with a fork until blended:
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup molasses
Add enough water to form into a ball (about 1/4-1/2 cup)
Roll out 1/4 inch thick. I use corn meal sprinkled on wax paper.
Bake 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
Baby Food Soft Doggie Cookie
3 jars baby food
-- (2 1/2 oz. each) either beef or chicken
1/4 cup Dry milk powder
1/4 cup Wheat germ (cream of
wheat can be substituted for wheat germ)
Combine ingredients in bowl and mix
well. Roll into small balls and place on well greased
cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with a
fork. Bake in preheated 350F oven for 15 minutes
until brown. Cool on wire racks and
STORE IN REFRIGERATOR. Also freezes well.
Bacon Delight Treats
Mix together dry ingredients:
3 cups whole-wheat flour
1 cup dry grits (soy or corn).
1/2 cup powdered milk or powdered soymilk.
4 beef bouillon cubes crushed
2 tablespoons wheat germ
Add mixed wet ingredients and cut in with a fork until blended:
6 tablespoons bacon grease (or other meat drippings)
1 egg beaten
Add enough water to form into a ball (about 1/2 cup).
Roll out 1/4 inch thick on wax paper sprinkled with flour or corn meal.
Bake 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned.
Cut into squares or rectangles or use a cookie
cutter for all treats.
I experiment all the time using different
ingredients (what ever I have on hand in the cupboard). Seeds: sesame seeds,
flax seeds, sunflower seeds, celery seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc. Dry Ingredients:
rye flour, soy flour, whole-wheat flour, oatmeal, cornmeal, grits, etc.
Nutrition Boosters: wheat germ, garlic, olive
oil, peanut butter, eggs, dry milks, bouillon's, molasses, cottage cheese,
grated cheese, grated carrots, grated zucchini, parmesan cheese (I use a small
amount of Veggie parmesan made with soy), dried parsley, dried mint, etc.
